Falcon Help Sign In

Hello.

Ford Falcon EA 1990

This is probably just a general sort of question but any help would be greatly appreciated.

My drivers side door has become very stuck and difficult to open, I have to pull the handle up incredibly hard to get the door to open. Has something inside the door slipped? Is it easy to fix? If it's hard, is it a costly job to get a mechanic to do it.

Thanks.

Re: Falcon Help Sign In

I'll try but they don't sell that car in the US. Last few I saw were like old Ford Torinos that were sold here. There should be rods that you can see from inside (take door panel off) and they can get stretched and CAN be rebent to work the latch sooner instead of just at the end of handle travel. Look for damage to hardware while you are there and it's a good time to lube things up - locks, window rollers, gutters etc with WD-40 like product or white grease you may see that was used when new.

DrElectrics here is from Austrailia where I think this car is/was sold and probably knows the body of that better than I do,

There is a good possibility the rod that goes from the handle to the latch has bent. Take door panel off and look at the mechanism and see if all rods are straight and not binding.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

!! Found a pic of a 90 Falcon. This smacks of a Taurus body for US cars,

Good ol Aussie made cars. You could drive the old EA into a river and it would drive right back out again.
