Hello. I am having a problem with my 1995 Ford Taurus. When car is parked and I try to shift to "D" it takes many tries, and a lot of brake pressing to get the shift to move, some time as long as 15 minutes. It's getting to the point where I can't even use my car any more. Any suggestions about what the problem could be would be very welcome, I've done some small repairs in the past, but I can't figure this one out. Thanks in advance guys.

First make sure brake lights work and if not check the switch at the brake pedal arm. If they work there's a lock device that I personally am not familiar with replacing or adjusting that allows shifter out of park, T
