Front passenger side of car keeps making noise when driving. Sign In

Hello,

I have a 2003 Lexus ES 300 with 207,000 miles on the car. Every time I drive the car keeps making noise as if the front right tire is uneven. It also sounds like something is scratching against something else as it is making a high pitched scratching sound when I drive. However, when I went to replace the front two tires, that still didn't fix the problem. Even though the front tires needed replacing the people who put on the tires put the new tires on the back and the back tires on the front since they said it would be safer that way since I only bought two new tires. But the front right tire is still making that noise and the car still shakes a bit. I think it started when I accidentally ran over a curb. The guy that replaced my tire said that the hub cap might need to be replaced as I thought it was loose wires from the tire that were making the high pitched sound. Any advice? Thank you so much for your time.

Why are you posting here instead of having the car inspected? We can't see what you may or may not have damaged.

You need to get the car to a competent shop for inspection and if you don't like what he tells you, take it to a different shop for a second opinion.

If you have hub caps on the car, take them off and see if that makes a difference on the noise.
If the noise persists, then it would depend on your experience level and tools available to you on what you do next.
1st you would want to take the tire off and look everything over, make sure the backing plate isn't touching the rotor and there is no obvious damage.
If you aren't comfortable doing this then you may want to take it and have it inspected....but don't ignore the problem.
