Gas Smell inside 92 Saab Sign In

I have noticed a fairly strong gas odor inside my 1992 Saab 900 after a recent fill up. Any ideas as to what is causing it?

Re: Gas Smell inside 92 Saab Sign In

this could be from a number of things... for one let the car air out before driving it with the windows down, because it can be dangerous driving and inhaling the fulms...

Also the most likely cause for this was that the gas station has over filled your tank a little bit and that left over gas came into the truck compartment... has happened to myself a few times..

drive around for a few days and as the gas gets lower in the tank the order should disappear...

as with other possible causing I'm not sure.... does anyone else have any ideas?

TAKE CARE OF THIS!! Could be rust or damaged fuel lines, tank and anything that carries fuel. It may be nothing but a bit too full and be fine.

If it hasn't stopped yet park it out doors if you have a garage. Be safe, T

It could need a new "gas fume accumulator" I can't think of the technical name but it looks like a coffee can and its basically a charcoal filter used to take the fumes out of the vacuum system.(or so it was explained to me) I had a similar issue in my saab I changed it & the fumes went away the same day. before you act on this thread see what the other s post in reply to it!!
