I have a Pontiac Grand Am and the gauges stopped working and all the warning lights stay on. The gauges bounce up and down sometimes as if there is a short somewhere. I have been told that I may need to replace the ignition switch. Could this be the problem? Please advise.

That would be high on my list of possibilities. Wish I could say how to diagnose that without just replacing it.

Are there add on remote starter, theft systems or anything that could confuse the issue? -T
