Could I have some ideas on what would cause a failed HC ppm smog test? Is there something easy that I can try? Limit is 220, I read 318. 92 Escort with 147 K on it. Runs greatr and passed all the rest of the test.

Thanks.

Rick

Sure...everything is easy...lol...

Try a basic tune up...

Replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires..
Distributor cap and rotor
Filters,air and fuel...pcv valve
Does the car burn/use oil....at that mileage I'm guessing is does...
Replace the catalytic converter...you can get a universal one installed at most exhaust shops inexpensively...

Good place to start...
