HELP!--HIT A DITCH IN MY '03 CHEVY TAHOE..WHY DOES IT IDLE REALLY HIGH WHEN I START THE ENGINE NOW!? Sign In

RAN MY TAHOE OFF THE ROAD AND WRECKED INTO THE BOTTOM OF A DECENT SIZE DITCH. IT BENT THE FRONT END UP AND FRAME NEEDS STRAIGHTENED. THE TRUCK DIDNT HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. IT STARTED AS SOON I LANDED IN THAT DITCH, THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING AND IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED IDLING UP QUICKLY SO I SHUT THE MOTOR OFF. CANT SEE ANYTHING VISIBLY BROKE OR PINCHED BUT THIS IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE WRECK. ANY IDEAS WHAT WOULD BE POSSIBILITIES OF THE PROBLEM?

You bent the frame is pretty serious by itself so the whole vehicle went thru total shock. If safe to move or drive (may not know easily) I'd start with code readings for assorted sensors that may throw a code. Chase those down.

Hey - make sure cooling system (radiator support, coolers for trans, and more all intact or don't run it anymore) or risk any chance this is worth all the damage to be worth it.

If you see bent frame the damage is serious. May not be worth it find out the total amount of damage that's knowable now so you can choose next step including giving up on this for salvage,
