My Jeep Grand Cherokee has just recently started making an odd thumping noise at interstate speeds. The Sound is coming from- The sound originates from somewhere between myself (in the driver's seat) and the edge of my front right bumper. When it Occurs- It starts when the engine is at higher RPMS... For example if I were going 70mph on the interstate and then started to pass someone it would start as I started to accelerate and gain speed... What Does it sound like- It sounds like something is spinning along with the axel (all wheel drive) and then as the axel starts picking up speed to drive the wheel, something on the axel starts hitting the bottom of the car... and what ever it is increases in intensity as the axel drives harder (at higher revolution)... thump....thump...thump..thump.thump (it gets faster and faster along with the car. It's not the transmission as the car is "in gear"... this is not the type of "getting on it" that triggers a downshift... Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
