Headlight trouble

Ok. This is kind of hard to explain. I had to replace my headlight bulb a few months ago, because it went out. I had trouble getting the bulb out of the socket/hole. You know how you have to twist it & turn it the right way for it to come loose? Well...I twisted it too hard and the bulb shattered, and I messed up the hole a bit. The new bulb went in and could not lock into place very good, due to me breaking some of it off. Now its just a hole where the light bulb goes into...noting to lock it into place. Do you know what I mean? I only drive at night one day a week, because i work days the rest of the time, and my wife does all the in-town driving. Do I have to buy an entire new bulb assembly? Or is there a way to maybe use a special glue to hold the bulb in place? Not the bulb itself...i mean the black part that the bulb snaps into? I hope i am making sense Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, What broke or both the socket or the plug that holds the bulb? In a halogen bulb which you said broke it will need to seal up tight as they get smokin' hot and don't want moisture in the housing. All the non sealed beam assemblies are one piece and expensive TMK. You could fake it with high temp silicone sealer but would be even harder if you had to go back there again. Note: If original and you know it the other bulb will go real soon. They are timed for life and almost always go close to each other, T

I think you are down to replacing that part or sealing it up. If you seal it the Permatex high temp (orange) will take the heat of the bulb. If it needed another bulb later just cut it out with an exacto knife and do it again. Some of those lenses cost hundreds so it's your call, T
