Hi, My 96 Honda Accord LX car recently has been turning off when waiting at a stop light. It will cut back on a minute afterward if I leave it alone. It may help to know that as I get out the car immediately and decide to cut it back on two seconds later, it will not do so unless I open the driver's side door (assuming the car needs some electricity running through it) and close it again. Once this is done, it will cut back on; this happens daily. I have gotten the fuel pump and battery replaced from the car shop, but the problem of the car cutting off has not been fixed yet. Please help me! I am a college student and cannot afford to pay for something that does not resolve the issue. Thank you!

Maybe it is coincidence that when you open the door the vehicle starts? The trick to finding out why the engine is shutting off is to find out what is missing when the engine doesn't want to start. This means you need to check for spark, injector pulse, and fuel pressure when the engine doesn't want to start. Find out what is missing will give you direction in troubleshooting why any of those things are missing. When it doesn't want to start, with the ignition turned on, is the check engine light illuminated? It might be a coincidence, but that coincidence is consistently working in that regard. When figuring out the logistics of the issue, will the problem still present itself since the car can start in a few minutes? When it doesn't want to start the check engine light was not illuminated. At least I did not recognize such.

You're having a problem with the main fuel injection relay under the dash on the drivers side. When you open the door it is likely moving the harness a little, triggering the relay.
