Help! Have I been ripped off? Sign In

I purchased a Peugot 206 03 plate six months ago for £3500. 3 monthes after purchasing it it needed £300 worth of work done, which the dealer paid for. Then 2 monthes ago I paid a further £900 for work to be done. Last nite the exhaust came off and we took it back to the dealer who says that it needs £1300 worth of work doing to it (brake pads, hole in the exhaust etc). I stil have £1200 left on finance to pay. What should I do? All the work has been done by the dealer who I purchased the car with. Surely this is a lot of work in such a short space of time. SHould I haggle for a deal on a new car? I just dont want to be landed with big bills every 6 monthes when it breaks down! Do I have any rights?

I suggest a second opinion and quote for what needs doing and value out the car as it is. With this much needing doing in six months my guess is much of that could have been known ahead of purchase. If going for a used vehicle it can really pay off to pay another shop to fully check it out pre-purchase and if there are things in need have them done before you buy.

If you want to consider brand new and this as a trade you may be seriously disappointed in what you may be offered for this one,
