Hi I purchased a used holden commodore VE omega 2008/auto in January 2012 with 80,000km on the clock. 10,000km later on the 7/3/12 the vehicle was towed to Goldy Motors - Holden due to I drove 3 metres and the vehicle stalled, failed to start, displaying fault codes abs airbag ect and power saver/safe mode was activated. I specifically requested to have the charging system and all components checked and was told the charging system is functioning properly. They then stated they checked the battery and found the battery was not holding charge and replaced the battery. It was also discovered that the transmission was leaking from the oil pump seal which then revealed that the transmission oil pump was scored and had chatter marks. They consulted a transmission repair specialist and recommended pump replacement and then carried out the repairs. For a total cost of 2874. Today the 26th of January the vehicle would not start, displaying abs and airbag fault. Checked battery and has a voltage of 8.45 which makes me think alternator since I drive the vehicle regularly and always serviced on time at certified repairers. What should I do at this stage?

Have to be very general as the car is not sold where most regulars are at this site. No matter you believe the low voltage which would be too low for it to function properly. If not starting the warning light are just in bulb check mode IMO. Alternator needs a good battery and all wiring proper. Batteries can fail new or not and be hard on alternators or kill them. Try charging the battery with a charger, check that belt is tight to alternator and recheck voltage when running as it should after doing that much. If not decide on what you want to do. It may now need to go back for full charging system and battery check, T

Thanks for your reply,I realised that this site wasn't local after I looked around a bit. My bad, although I am referring to the "Pontiac G8". I have charged the battery and about to go and see how it goes. Either way she's going to go to the mechanics

All are welcome. It's just difficult up to impossible for regulars to get specific. You mentioned low voltage which is enough if it was a garden tractor/lawn mower to know to check battery and charging system. Good luck. No site beat being there hands on - yet, Tom
