Hyundai i10 check engine and weird engine behavior Sign In

Im driving Hyundai i10 model (1.0 petrol engine). Model is from 2018. but it was bought and first registered in July 2019. At the moment I drove 33k kilometers with it. Ive noticed after not even a full year has passed that yellow check engine lamp has turned on and Ive driven it straight to my local certified Hyundai repair shop and they told me it is nothing to worry about, it has something to do with fuel or something like that? It happens even now after 2 years on occassion, lamp turns on, stays on for couple od hours or a day and then it goes off again. Not sure if it is related, but second problem I have is that sometimed while I am waiting at traffic light or wherever Ive noticed that my engine lifts my RPM by itself while itd out of gear. You can hear it working louder as if Im pressing gas pedal and then letting it go ovrer and over again it goes from 800 to 1400rpm and back while out of gear. It only stops after I put it in a gear and drive for a short distance. Is this anything to worry about? I have noticed this time that when I turnef on the car after this check engine appeared again The car has manual transmission.

The check engine light was put there for a reason and I can't believe a dealer would tell you that it's nothing to worry about and to ignore it.

The engine idle problem may be the AC compressor cycling on and off. Try turning off the AC and defroster and see if it stops then.

I thought so too but since Im not expert I listened to them. Worth nothing care is under warramty for 4 years (a little less than 2 left). They said its something related to fuel and that it is a common occurence in these models or brand of car. Ill definitely lookout on wheter it happes while AC is on.

It's under warranty?

Then there is no question, they fix it. It's their problem, not yours.

Yeah its a "new" car so you get 4 years warranty when you buy it. Well they should fix it but they say there is nothing to fix and Im worried thst another 2 years will pass warranty will expire and this will come to bit me in my ass.

Oh crap! If real warranty they need to fix it or you go nuts to get a new replacement!

Too new if you've kept up THIS IS THEIRS!

There may be nothing wrong with the engine idle speed but the check engine light coming on is definitely something they need to fix.

Do you know if its possible that they are right when they said on 2 separate occasions that it is nothing to worry about? As I recall it was something to do on how the many hyundai models react to fuel quality or something like that? I mean Im not sure what to do if certified dealership were I bought it on 2 separate ocassions says everyhing is OK.

That is asinine!

There is no way a dealer can say that warning lights on new cars is a normal thing. Do not accept that answer. Warning lights are built into a car for a reason, to tell you something needs to be resolved. If you get no satisfactory results from the people you are speaking to, then move up the chain of command to the service manager, and if that doesn't work, then to the district manager.
