Dear Sirs:
2004 Olds Alero gl 4 cylinder
My mechanic jacked me up. My car runs erratically. It sputters and there is power loss 25% of the time. My friend told me the mechanic adjusted a screw on some module related to carburation. I think my friend is knowledgable as to what is going on. He also said not to worry, that the car won't stall, which it has not.

You would need to be more detail on the problem and when it's occurring to have any idea on what is going on BUT more importantly, unless you are able to post which specific tests you have already run and the results of those test then we probably can't give out much help on this.

I can tell you to do all the basic stuff you are able to do, maintenance, tune up, clean the throttle body.
If this is the 2.5 quad 4, then that has an internal coil housing that is known for problems, if you are doing a t/u then definitely replace the housing while you have the coil pack off.

? More info same as Sidom just said. By any freaking chance did you mean "mechanic" hit something underside with a jack that caused this? Be less ambiguous about what being "jacked up" means,

That's a pretty good trick on a car that doesn't have a carburetor and the idle speed is electronically controlled and not adjustable.

You need to deal with somebody that actually knows what he is doing. This engine can be real tricky to diagnose the ignition system.
