The side of my car drifted into the curb at decent mph, hard to tell but probably around 10mp more or less. There was a slight angle where it actually hit, which was into the rear wheel only. The rear wheel was bent in while on the curb but when it was moved off the wheel straightened out. It was dark and I didn't have much time to actually check it out. I also had to leave the next day and will probably be gone another 9 months. I put the vehicle in storage that night after being towed to the storage place just to be safe. Basically the exterior damage I could visibly see was just damage to the rim and tire. When I briefly looked under the car to try and see anything the control arm at least didnt look bent. Im generally worried about frame damage so far but Im not exactly sure what could be all the possible problems. When I drove the car into the storage area I dont remember feeling anything vibrate or the steering wheel being F**ked on alignment but i intend to check when im back. The only thing I felt was when I eased it into the storage unit i could hear a creak and pretty loud clunk once whenever i moved it after changing gears (it was tight so i had to switch from reverse and drive a couple times). The clunk felt like something bending back into place. Thanks for any help. You can't always just see slight bends in control arms and other parts where it's mounted. The wheel? You said it was straitened or did by itself? NO - it too needs checking and if it's rubbing anything now doesn't seem many miles since this happens but could be seen if fixable itself or not as well as the tire, T Hammer Time Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator May 9, 2018, 7:37 AM Post #3 of 3 (1581 views) Re: Ideas On Possible Car Damage After Accident Sign In Yes, you definitely need to replace the rim and then have the rest of the car inspected and aligned. You also want to spin the wheel after the new one has been mounted on the car to determine if the hub got bent at all.
