2008 Subaru Legacy 3.0 R (H6 engine) full synthetic. I live in Montana, so it's cold here a lot, and I'm a woman, so I only know about knitting and makeup (jk). When temps start to hit in the lower 50's and below, the car starts chugging badly when I am in Drive. It's a rhythmic chugging, slow and steady. No noises. No knocking. Timing belt sounds fine. No weird noises under hood when examining. Use full synthetic oil and premium fuel, as owners manual suggests. Current on all shots, good with other cars, just the chugging issue. Any ideas? I allow the car to warm up only when the temps are around 40-ish and below. I noticed yesterday, however, the car chugged when it was around 75 degrees with no warm-up. Recently replaced computer chip under floorboard which was causing issues with cylinder 6. No check engine lights, no warning lights. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by this.

If the engine feels like it is misfiring, you'll need to figure out which cylinder is missing and then determine if it is a spark, fuel, or mechanical issue.

Don't know how much experience you have with diagnosing and repairing drive-ability issues or what type of tooling you have.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
