Installed new rotors problem

High pitch humming after installing new rotors but did not replace brake pads which were still good. The rotor is hot to touch after usage. I'm thinking I should take it to the shop to resurface them as I think they are too thick? Any advice. Thanks in advance.

Wrong, wrong........ The rotor can't be too thick unless it's just the wrong rotor. You should never re-use brake pads. They are worn to the shape of the old rotor and should have been replaced automatically. Make sure the caliper slides and pistons are free also.

I took it to the shop. All they did was use screw driver w/o taking the tire off and fiddled with it and fixed it. I'm guessing something was touching the rotor but they fixed it.

Sounds like the backing plate was too close to the rotor and touching. No big deal, all fixed.
