I was wondering how much force would make someone's tire axel come off the front of a jeep wrangler. I was in a huge accident and the police are guessing that the jeep was going less than 20 mph when they hit me. They left over 25' of skid markings and swerved me 8' from them. It knocked the front axel off of the jeep, and my passenger side is completely destroyed...90% chance it's totaled. The speed limit on that road is 25mph. I was just wondering how in the world someone could slam on breaks (make that much skid marks), hit me that hard, and still break the axel.

IMO this is a real tough call on how fast a vehicle was really going. Lousy tires could skid lots longs or certain road conditions and some won't skit at all with full braking. Damage sustained is not always fair and defies probability sometimes. Big monster vehicle can suffer worse than a little one an vs versa too.

Most important is nobody getting hurt. Let the decision on fault be made with all observations made in a report and here (MA) insurance companies decide fault - not even police if they witnessed it - however a ticket to one party or the other sure helps!

Good luck,

T
