2002 Kia Sorento Mini Van
6 cylinder
134,000 miles

Hi I just bought a 2002 Kia sorento mini van with 134,000 on it. I am looking at having the transmission fluid changed out on it and was wondering what is the best way to have it done. I have spoken to a few shops in my area, and it seems that two methods are available.

Option 1 - Is to drop the pan and drain and replace screen at a cost of about $120 done by a local transmission shop

option 2 - Is to have the fluid drained out and new fluid put back in. No dropping of the pan. Cost ranges from $79 - $169 depending on whom I go with. The dealership recomends this type over dropping the pan.

Also, when I went to check the dip stick on the transmission I found Zero markings on the dip stick like I have seen on other transmission dip sticks in other cars I have owned. Has anyone ever come across a dip stick with no markings on where the fluid should be on a dip stick before?
