Miata Makes Noise

My 2002 Mazda Miata has started making a noise that is really annoying. I noticed this the other day while sitting at a traffic light. It sounds like maybe two pieces of metal vibrating on one another at a very high rate. This noise stops when I depress the clutch even an inch. Does anyone know specifically what this noise could be. You hear noises like this in older worn cars so Im guessing its as simple as a metal ring or something on a pulley that has become worn and loose. Thanks for your help.

That sounds like there may be a problem with the throw out bearing. That would require removing the transmission to replace. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
