Miss fire under acceleration Sign In

2001 Saturn sc2, remanufactured 1.9 engine, about 3000 miles.
Intermittent miss under acceleration, runs fine at steady speed.
Replaced spark plugs, condition worsened, champion double platinum plugs,
Accel performance coils, Bosch plug wires. Header on engine, ARE performance intake system. No codes come up.

Just what do you mean by that?

The brand of parts you mentioned are not suggested makers of parts for this and it really can matter no matter what the claims they make.
No codes show up and it misfires? Needs a better code reader then.

"Remanufactured" doesn't necessarily mean it's as good as new despite what parts were redone should behave as new so alone doesn't rule out real problems mechanically with the engine.
Alterations to this engine are highly suspect of causing the problem to me.

For now why no codes is in question. Does the check engine light or equivalent warning or icon light or is it out (not working) on purpose or even a blown bulb? Code reader should have said it wasn't ready or unable.
Other: Exhaust restrictions worth checking both age and what the old engine might have done to it also.

You said it runs fine at a steady speed suggests intake vacuum leaking problems anywhere also age and altered components possible to blame,

You need to determine which cylinder or cylinders is misfiring. You'll need an enhanced scan tool that can look at misfire pids. Did this start all the sudden or has it always had this issue?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
