Mysterious no start short Sign In

1999 saturn sl1 4cyl 160k miles

2 weeks ago reversing out of drive way shifted from reverse to drive and the car died out went to restart but no cranking sound all dashlights still worked let sat 2 days and restarted without problem. Today go to start car and hear shorting sound this time no dashlights work or anything plz help

You have to begin with anything battery: Charged up and check that what you have is OK at all then on to cleaning or seriously checking the cables, clean at battery and the destination ends of each. You aren't going to test for much else till that's known perfect.


For now that's all it seems - bad battery or connections. If it runs without a decent battery and charge you'll add lots more troubles to do pay attention to it,

What exactly does a "shorting sound" sound like?

A "short circuit" is an electrical term that has no sound.
