i have a humming/whirring noise coming from the front end of the vehicle, the noise gets louder and louder as the vehicles speed increases the car also starts to vibrates a little after 100 km/h i ruled out things like worn tires and tire pressure i suspected it to be the wheel bearing so i jacked up the car to try shake both wheels to see if there is any play in them but there was nothing really notably, i span each tire as well to try to see if there was grittiness but again nothing really notably. What do you think it is also is there anything else i should consider checking ? 2006 Honda Civic 1.8 L with roughly 244 km's

Step by step for that. Rotate tires and while doing that fully check brakes too even lift calipers up to get a real good look should be nice and even side to side. It's also a better time to really check tires. If no play now test drive on smooth road and see if noise shifts location to you or is very different now too. Bearings if so almost never have "play" or if one does quit driving it they were bad long before to have play. What to do is better felt you and spin hubs while doing rotation and if nothing at that speed while driving turn left and right also a bearing is almost always worse for noise one way or the other shifting the weight. If that really brings out or noise temporarily quits can be hard to know which one. It's usually one but can be more also an opinion to do just ones known and found bad others would suggest that axle meaning both sides if one only feels bad. If really bearings and more than a pair was this vehicle flooded is my question? You may not know if others drive it or just acquired but know bearings on a long list of things to fail if water over center of hubs was done even just parked! T

i tried the method you suggested by steering left to right to see if there is a change in noise, when im turning right the noise is significantly quieter but when i turn left it is a lot louder, im assuming it is the driver side wheel bearing correct me if i am wrong.

No, that would be the passenger side. When you swerve left you are loading the right front. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Seems you found it. Noise can travel/fool you. You'll know best with old one in your hands spinning it. New is still sticky wont free spin to compare - good bearings are silent + no rough feel by hand, T
