Hello I have a 1983 chevey Silverado and I need help. I was going to to move it in my shop. I turned it off to go open the door on the shop to drive it in. I started it but now have a probolem. It won't go into gear and the steeering wheel won't turn. The key I all the way on. I want to know if there is a cable or rod somewhere I can pull to or move to disable the lock. Or is the lock controlled electronically. I kindof need to know becuse it will be hard to pull it in park and it will be hard to steer it with the steering locked up. I would really apreciate any help.

1983 - Should be mechanical only at the lock cylinder where key goes in not ignition switch. I don't recall you have to push brake pedal for 1983 to unlock shifter? I'm surprised it started and may not again till you find out where the rod (pretty sure) came off. Would need a steering wheel puller set for this that pushes down on the star lock for the wheel so you can remove a small snap ring and see what's going on. Try again as it isn't going anywhere it seems and see how much view you might get removing soft parts from underside of column if something obvious, T
