Have a 96 Dodge Neon, steel tank, plastic fuel sending unit. I'm trying to replace the gas tank but can't get the wire harness off the sending unit. I got the fuel lines off but not the wire harness I tried every which way. Has anyone ever removed the wire harness from the sending unit on this year car. Can't put the new tank in till the old one is out.

Getting some of these connectors off can be challenging; there’s almost always some form of retainer clip that has to be removed, slid, or pinched to get the thing off. At times it’s like having to know a secret handshake before you’re allowed into a fraternity; once you figure it out, there’s nothing to it. I just had a look through Mitchell repair and there wasn’t even a mention of how to unclip it? Just keep playing with the connector and you’ll figure it out. Dan. Canadian "EH"
