No communication with scan tool

No communication with scan tool Sign In

On a 02 avalanche with a 5.3, I have tried two different scan tools and cannot communicate. Is that a bad PCM? The cig lighter works as well. Thanks!!!

Does the engine run? When you turn the ignition on, does the check engine light bulb check?

No run as well. Doing a 30 in relearn now.

Why are you doing a 30 minute learn procedure? Is the security light active when your attempting to start the engine?

Does the check engine light bulb check when you turn the ignition on before you started doing the relearn?

Yeah, the security light blinks when I put the key in and the check engine light is on as well. This is the second relearn I've done and neither were successful. .??? Thanks for taking the time.

Do you have battery voltage on pin 16 of the diagnostic connector?
