I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora, V-6, 120,000 miles in good condition. My fan has recently started making a low, bass-like noise that gets louder if the fan is turned up. It still blows the air well, both AC and heat. I haven't done anything yet because I have no idea where to start. I can't afford to take it to the mechanic, so I'd like all the do-it-yourself help you can give.

You probably have a blower motor failing. Just make sure there are no leaves or anything caught in it making the noise. PS, I have deleted your other question. Please do not post duplicates.
