I have a 94 Get Prism 1.6L with 158K miles, manual transmission. Whenever I come to a stop, and try to take off again, it seems like the car isn't getting gas unless I pump the gas or rev the engine. It will do this regardless of how much gas I have in it. Once I get going, the car drives fine until I have to come to a complete stop.

Hmmm. Shows all are fuel injected in not for some reason find out. There is no "pumping" fuel injection like you are forcing it more fuel just confusing it to notice you pushed the pedal sends a signal that you did so that may cover the reason that is wrong for just now. It's getting hard to get codes for this being limited OBD1 still. Ask who can get codes from it or seek out a diagnosis on why this behavior and decide an approach of what you want to do. A fix yourself or to be sent out. Just "feeling" like it's not getting enough fuel for what you are used to is only your guess so far. It could be several things by age and miles begin ruling thins out that would be common like vacuum leaks, compression, exhaust restriction and any neglected maintenance. If you wish to keep a car this long and that many miles you need to be following details to the letter care wise and things can just happen anyway lots younger than this, T

The reason I say it feels like it's not getting gas is because if I just let it idle, it'll die. But if I rev it and hold the gas and clutch in, it'll stay running. But coming to a complete stop will make it stall. After I start it I have to hold the gas in for a few seconds like it's taking longer for the gas to work through the line. Also, the check engine light doesn't come on till it stalls, so it wouldn't bring up codes anyway

Not a whole lot of info to go off of......From what you are saying, You may have a dirty throttle body.....Once the throttle body gets to much dirt in there the comp can't compensate anymore and the usual complaint is the car won't idle...... Get a can of throttle bottle cleaner, at little brush or rag.....Take the air tube off the throttle body, hold it open, spray a little down the the throttle, soak the rag and clean it out..... You can spray some down the body but after a few shots you should start and run the engine for a bit.....It will run like cr@p for a few seconds until it burns the cleaner out...

Some things you can do and maybe get lucky at why this does this. #1 I'd say a vacuum leak in the wrong place if this happened all at once. #2 An electrical sensor not bad enough yet to set a code and might not or the wiring to it? #3 If late on any timing belt maintenance but still runs at least find out if valve timing is off. #4 A lurking head gasket leak not showing itself bad enough yet throws off other sensors. #5 Fuel pressure just under spec for this engine. Stop there it could be lots of things to know are right and a compression test could declare if engine is basically OK for the miles or had it. You have to start looking for likely areas and test they are OK or not to zoom in on why and nothing yet to go on except already said it's both old for many parts and enough miles for plain worn out but not sure yet without some check. Start with something yourself or send it out for a diagnosis maybe a 1 hour check for engine alone would do if you can't yourself. Just diagnose by request if you can't you don't have to have anything done. There's just a list to check what's OK and what's in question or better find something that's off then decide who fixes it. I gave you a few things to check we could get started but nothing to go on yet, T

Like Tom says.....There are a lot of things that can be causing this.... I gave you one of the easiest things to do that may or may not be causing the problem.... When you take that air tube off, take a good look at it.....Sometimes those will split a create an air leak......that can be problem also....
