Oil Pressure Guage Sign In

I have recently noticed that my oil pressure guage on my 90 Silverado is higher then usual (around 45 mark on the guage) . What would cause this ? and is it something to be worried about

Re: Oil Pressure Guage Sign In

Truly too high is fairly rare. I don't really trust car's own gauges for accuracy so if you think it's out of normal range test the reading with a separate gauge. If this stays high at idle when warmed up that's VERY unusual.

A simple possibility is the oil filter is plugged but even then should bypass the pressure and go on to the engine parts as needed. An oil change and filter with proper grade of oil - likely 10W-30 may show better or more common readings,
