This mechanism is inside the upholstery so unless you know how to remove it and re-upholster it, you're out of luck.

This car not sold where I am but doesn't matter really. Maybe you can fix this for near free but need to look. Back of seat probably has a panel that can pop out likely just plastic push in zip clips things for lack of any better word for them.

If you get that off it may expose either a broken cable/wire or some clip that holds one where it pivots up high or down lower unknown till observed. Other is to look up from bottom or see if the seating material is fastened such that you can get a peek without wrecking it.

DON'T WRECK UPHOSTERY as that is it's own sport! Can't know without looking but many use these funky clips (just wire loops) that hold material in place - just need to look and tools for that stuff is auto - upholstery or fake it if possible and needed with opening one of those and pinch it back right where it was with assorted pliers.

You need to just look around for how it works - should be simple on that one vs all kinds of electric controls (possible still) that know you are in it to warn for seat belts or other things.

If nothing and this is a real problem with how you need it you might be able to swap just the back or whole seat with the other! Controls would be on the wrong side.

You said no budget but an auto upholstery place would probably fix this -- can't say for your specific area but most repair shops wouldn't take on upholstery work.

Whole new seat would be out of the question at the age. You'd be lucky to just find the right fabric.

More: Do you have a "salvage yard" - junkyard that you can go tear into a same seat or buy one? Admit it that has been my trick for silly stull like that on some junk car that's already trashed that would allow you to dig into their stuff for stupid clips and things that you may need not so easy on now a 14 model year old car,

PS: Look out there but I don't know of much for specific software, diagrams for how it should work? Dealer may have a screen to show you and not be able to get any parts?? Some would be hardware store stuff some specific??

HT - hitting at the same time again no surprise. I'm the sucker that got some of that crap from shops or doing restorations. Yes you can get all the crap for an old Mustang or something but an Opel - seriously doubt it.

All the credit in the world to the places with the skills and machines that can write in logos in thread and that bull and get it all back on like nobody touched it!
