I have a 2001 PT Cruiser. I have flushed change radiator cap, thermastic. The water pump does not make any noise or leak. I have 101,200 miles the car deoes cut out a miss when I accerlerate,.
Can the timing belt need to be replace which may be causing the water pump not to turn quick enough and can that also be causing to car to miss

No, you can forget that theory. If your timing belt slipped even one tooth, you'd probably be on the side of the road and looking for a new engine due to the damage done.

If you have a previous history of overheating, then you likley have a blown head gasket now. You will need to pressure test the cooling system while all the spark plugs are removed to determine if there is any coolant or pressure loss and if any coolant is getting into any of the cylinders.
