PLZ help me Sign In

Hello i have a 2002 Saturn L100 and its pretty good except I have this one problem. The car gives off these really bad gasoline fumes from the sides and when the car windows are down you can smell them easy. Also the gas mileage is horrible because of this problem. I get alot less MPG then normal. All i can think of is a vacuum leak or an exhaust leak but im not sure could anyone tell me exactly what this could be and how to fix it thx so much.

first try to eliminate the obvious. look for gas leaks, look for wet spots on the driveway, jack the car up and check the fuel lines for wet spots.

then try a new gas cap. check the vent tube so its free of obstruction.

Re: PLZ help me Sign In

Your best bet here would be to have this checked out. If you are smelling fuel and the car is consuming more that it has in the past then it is either leaking out(but you say you dont see any puddles under it) or the car is dumping more fuel than it should trough the injection system. Both problems will cause a fuel smell and less gas mileage. If the car is dumping extra fuel and running rich, there are a large range of reason that could cause it. If the engine light is on it will give you a place to start if you get the codes pulled. Good luck.
