PT cruiser won't start Sign In

Hello,

Bought a 2003 PT Cruiser GT and all was fine for about a month and now it won't start at all. I turn the key and there is no click, nothing. It seems that the lights dim just a touch but no noise at all. Has about 120k miles on it, I had the battery inspected and charged, it's only a year old. I replaced the ignition switch and there was no change. I also read about the lockout feature so I attempted to lock and unlock it with the fob multiple times which had no change. I also opened up the dash and completely disconnected the security box and there was no change there either. I have not been able to hook up a code reader yet but may do that this week. After attempting to start it the instrument panel has a solid red dot on the left, a square box around every gear indicator, and the air bag, seat belt and brake light are all illuminated. Any help would be appreciated.

That's a good way to get permanently locked out. It's not that simple to defeat the security system.

Try this. Have a helper try to start it while you tap on the starter housing and see if that triggers anything.
