I own a GMC Yukon (2000). I was making a left turn at a set of lights when it felt like my steering locked mid-turn. I was able to finish the turn but even driving straight after wards took some effort. I was only a few blocks from home and two turns away. Each turn took all my strength to move the wheel to direct the turn. Do you have any advise as to what has occured?. I hope you can help, I have not told my husband yet and I am scared..haha!.

Start with making sure the power steering fluid is full to correct level. If not you must find out where it leaked. Pump failures are a bit rare but possible. The belt may be slipping which might be a tentioner problem but I would think you'd have more complaints if so, T
