Helloo I have a happy polo 6n2 Tdi with 121,052 miles on the Clock, Recently a month ago started smelling a wift of oil coming from the heater , This only happens when i put my foot down on the car . I have not realized a loss in power and no smoke is coming from the exhaust , every think else is ok such as oil and coolent e.g. The Car has been serviced every 6,000 miles. I had taken it to my local Garage and was told my turbo was on its way ok as it had been leaking oil (Only around bottom of turbo) Iv`e got two questions isit my turbo and can i save my turbo by using turbo cleaners that are available or would i be wasting my time & money .

Turbos and exhaust components get hot, so if you have oil on them they will most likely smoke, which could end up inside your vehicle because the HVAC system can allow air in the cabin through the cowl. I've never heard of a turbo cleaner. Sounds like a gimmick and don't see how a cleaner would stop an oil leak. The turbo's bearings are usually lubricated by pressurized oil from the engine's oiling system. If the turbo housing or seal itself is leaking oil, turbo replacement or rebuilding is probably the only option. If there is oil leaking from something else on the engine onto the turbo or exhaust, that should be taken care of first. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
