Rain leak into passenger compartment Sign In

Vehicle: 2000 Chrysler Town&Country
Problem: if I leave the vehicle parked outdoors and it rains, water accumulates 'somewhere', and (when I start the vehicle and drive off) subsequently cascades onto the carpet on the passenger side of the vehicle. (It's almost like it's coming out of the glove box!) Every time I slow down or go around a (particularly left-hand) curve or corner, more water will slosh out until (eventually) whatever the 'reservoir' is becomes empty.

I am really tired of having to warn my passengers about the free footbath, and having to take out the shop-vac to sop up all the water from the carpet and put a fan on it to blow-dry things further.

Where should I look or what should I expect to have to do to remedy this situation?

First start out by raising the hood and looking at the drains for the windshield wiper regulator below the windshield, there will be hoses on either side, these fill with debris such as leaves and often allow the water to fill the entire wiper regulator tray, this tray is adjacent to the fresh air intake portion of the cowl and can allow water to back up in to the opening and actually fill up your blower motor and or the HVAC case. Pull these hoses out of the bottom on each side and then clean out the wiper regulator tray and place the garden hose directly inside the drain hoses to pressure wash out the drain hoses then reinstall the hoses, then make sure that the evaporator core drain is draining, the sad ;part is that chrysler maqde this drain so SMALL that any debris especially leaves can very easily clog this drain up and if so worse case scenario the HVAC evap case would need to be removed and cleaned out maqnually by disassembling the case.
