Hi All, I know this is a long time later, but we figured out our overheating Kia Carnival (Sedona) yesterday. It's now 12 years old and done about 150,000 km. Nothing really made sense - the reservoir was full, but it would overheat after about 10-15 km. When overheating, steam would spit out of the reservoir overflow pipe. To troubleshoot it, I took the radiator cap off (when the engine was cold!) then started the engine. It ran fine for about 5 mins, then started spitting out of the radiator. I then started pouring water in and it took about 4 litres. That told me that the full reservoir wasn't being used. Turns out the pipe in the overflow reservoir had fallen off, so vacuum from the radiator couldn't draw fluid back in. We had to remove the reservoir (2 screws), empty it into a bucket, retrieve the pipe and cut 1cm off the end of it (it was too loose) then connect the pipe to the bottom of the reservoir cap, reattach and refill with coolant. Took about 15 mins once we realised what was wrong. Before mucking around with anything else, make sure the pipe is still attached to the bottom of the reservoir cap!!! Hope this helps someone!
