2003FordRanger4.0137K This isn't strictly a repair question, so I hope it's appropriate for this forum. I somehow threw a piece of debris in between the dashboard panel and the windshield, in the gap where the VIN number is displayed. Now, about a third of the number is not readable. I tried using curved tweezers and 90-degree pliers to remove it, but it's too tight. I slammed on the brakes and swerved to try to move it around in the gap under the panel, but it's stuck in hard. My next step is to try to snag it with a blob of glue on the end of a string, let it set, then yank it out. Should I be worried about driving a car with the dashboard VIN number obscured? Is removing the entire dashboard panel overkill? Any other ideas to get the debris out?

It's not really a big deal. The VIN # is also displayed in the door jam on the drivers side. If this is really bothering you, then I would hit it with some compressed air and try to blow it out.
