I have a 98 Ford Taurus SW with 135,000. it is a V-6/3.0 engine. My coolant recovery tank has sprung a leak and I need to replace it. From looking at it, it appears that 3 bolts/screws hold it on and that 3 hoses are attached to it. Removing the hoses is not a problem, the one screw holding it on near the where the cap goes on seems easy enough to remove and the other bolt holding it onto the body seems pretty easy. However there is a third bolt that seems to be protected on 3 sides by plastic and no way to get a socet set on it to remove it. Has anyone removed one of these and if so how did you get it off?

Going off memory, they should all be easily accessable. The "protected by plastic" part is throwing me. It's possible someone ran one down too far & it is sunk in to the plastic. If that is the case you'll just have to chip the plastice away, pound a socket on it or get something under there & just pry it off & remove the bolt later............
