Replacing Both Drive Axles

My '97 Nissan 200SX SE has both CV boots torn. Due to my lack of experience (1st car), I let the clicking noise continue for maybe 1,000 miles. I hear, feel the clicking when braking while turning and going straight. After some research, buying a Haynes manual, and learning about components, I've decided to fix the problem myself. I plan on starting the repair this weekend so I have a few days to prepare. While I feel mechanically inclined, I know nothing about cars and I'm just starting the learning process. Please bear with me, if your kind enough to help - Is it possible that there is further damage, beyond replacing both drive axles due to torn CV boots? - Is it safe to drive it for another week, after all, I've driven it quite a bit already... Note: I've gone ahead and bought passenger and driver side drive axles just because I've read that its easier to install them than just replacing the boots. I probably need them anyway? - Which side should I work on first? Should I go ahead and remove both drive axles before working on either side, or one at a time? - My new drive axle assembly instructions tell me to drain fluid (forgot which) yet my Haynes manual does not. Should I do it? - Is it necessary to buy some extra grease? They should be enough already packed within the assemblies, right? - At the store, I was told to use brakekleen to clean up the grease leaked from the torn boots (its all over). Where do I apply it, what should I avoid spraying? Is it necessary? If so, at what point of the process is it best to do it? - My Haynes manual tells me to remove the engine splash shields and refers to me another chapter. I've looked through it and cannot locate the part for it! How do I do it? Where would it be? What am I uncovering by removing them? - My Haynes manual tells me to disconnect the control arm from the steering knuckle and refers to me another Chapter without specifying the section. There are two sections that seem relevant, which one is the correct: "CONTROL ARM - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION" or "STEERING KNUCKLE AND HUB - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION". The former procedure involves disconnecting the stabilizer link and the latter involves removing brake disk, separating tie-rod from steering knuckle, etc. Do I need to follow through with the entire procedure just to disconnect the control arm from knuckle? It seems like I can skip of a few steps for this section. As always, additional insights will be helpful.. Thanks! Thanks again!
