I have a 1997 Ford Taurus "G" that I bought for my son. Only 39K miles on it. The car is great except when I put it in reverse, I have no power steering AND the radio shuts off. Seriously, both things happen. When I put it in drive, neutral or park, the power steering resumes and the radio comes back on. Any clue at all why this happens? I can see the power steering going, but losing the radio? I thought it might be a short with the reverse switch, but the backup lights come on normally. Any thoughts? Ghost? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can lend.

There is a transmission range sensor on top of the transaxle where the linkage hooks to. It is fairly easily reploaqced and relatively inexpensive. Click here for directions. You ncan get by without the adjustment tool. There are 2 little lines that need lined up with gear shift placed in neutral. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
