Hi everyone....I have an R reg Rover 600 2.0 turbo diesel, Quite recently it has been playing up what i mean is it splutters, kangaroo's and pinks its worse when i am crawling as you can see the rev meter dropping and sometimes it even cuts out, also i put £10 diesel in and i struggle to get 50 miles off it. Took it a rover speacialist who checked it using handheld device and it come up with 2 problems : 1; air mass problem 2; fuel error the guy cleared the problem with his device and then unplugged air mass thingy under bonnet....it didn't splutter or pink for 2 weeks but problem with fuel was the same and now it has started again took it back to garage and he checked but it was not coming up with any error faults as air mass thingy not plugged in anyway....Please help don't know what to do!!!!!!

You could have a couple of things going on. 1st is your mass air flow sensor. That needs to be functioning correctly to get peak performance & fuel economy, it is a major input for the PCM. Disconnecting it can be a diagnostic aid but the PCM goes to a base default calculation for airflow instead of actually reading, It could be as simple as the sensing wire has to much dirt build up on it for the burn off cycle to clear & just needs a cleaning to a defective MAF, ref voltage, signal or ground wires or bad PCM. Having it unplugged should've set a MAF low signal code, so having no DTCs is strange. 2nd you could also be having some fuel quality issuses. Try filling at a different station and if there is a fuel tanker there filling the station, stay away. That is the worst time to fill up. The tanker filling the stations tanks stirs up all the debri in the tanks & some of that can get past the pumps filters......
