I'm having some trouble with my car. It runs and starts just fine but after a Few miles it's completely loses power and dies. It starts right back up and will run fine in idle, park But when I start driving again after a mile it loses power and dies again. I actually repeated this 5 times. It starts right back up but loses power after driving on the interste after a mile. Could this just be crappy, watered down gas? It does eventually need a New starter but this can't be the cause. I'm guessing bad gas? The car is a 2000 Eclipse gs 4 cylinder.

Doesn't sound like symptoms of bad fuel. Is the check engine light on? If so, what are the trouble code numbers? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The check engine light has been on for years. I had it checked by computer, or whatever it is they use, a few years ago and nothing came up. Note: it has had multiple repairs since. Something I forgot to mention... A few seconds before it loses power and dies, when I push on the gas it dosent accelerate whatsoever. It starts and drives fine for a minute or two then I give it gas and won't accelerate and then dies but it will start right back up and run fine in park, only dies when moving. Could it be the air filter, hose?

You should have the engine computer rescanned. If the check engine light is on normally there are going to be trouble codes stored that might give you direction. Some things to check would be fuel pressure, exhaust back pressure, and rips and tears in the intake ducting, clogged air filter. When you try to accelerate does the engine bog out or does it misfire? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
