Scratches on windshield causing glare Sign In

I have a 1998 Honda Civic with about 150K miles on it. I had a scary experience the other day in which I was momentarily blinded by the sun while driving, despite keeping the windshield clean and wearing polarized sunglasses. Upon examining my windshield, I discovered it has a bunch of tiny scratches which I think is what made the glare so bad. Is replacing the windshield altogether my only option? Of course safety is by far the most important considration, so if that's what it takes I'll most definitely do it, but I was wondering if there are any less costly ways it can be fixed. Any advice appreciated.

I detail cars and some scratches or spots on glass can be polished out, no need for new glass.

You really should change your user name. The spammers will have a field day with your e-mail address.

Um...ok but you still haven't explained what this has to do with my screen name. I've used this screen name in practicallly every forum I've been on and never had a problem.
