Starting Sign In

My 1995 Lincoln Towncar at times doesn't start. Motor spins. the anti theft light flashes. after locking & unlocking doors several times it starts up & runs fine.
This only happens once in a while. Other times it starts at once. Can the anti-theft system be disconnected?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Starting Sign In

Is the anti-theft system factory or aftermarket? It sure seems to be the likely problem,

Re: Starting Sign In

The system is factory installed and came as standerd equipment.
The car has 76,000 miles and always been serviced on schedule.
Thank you in advance for all information.
Sincerely,
Elliot

Re: Starting Sign In

More questions....

Do all the locks operate properly?

Does the "Door" as in door ajar light work on each door?

If you have keyless entry is it working. It should work on both anything you programmed in AND the base # from the factory which is on a label on the bar that holds the trunk lid on the inside of the right one. That's where the factory puts the original random #s and will remember it even if battery is disconnected.

I may be barking up the wrong tree but in that messing with the locks makes a difference that should be the source of the trouble. After all that checks out you may have to contact Lincoln to be able to disarm the system at will as you might for valet parking or when getting the car serviced so they don't have to fight with it.

Try checking those things. The door ajar sensor is in the latch on these cars not just the switch for interior lights,
