Support with Diagnosing 2009 Honda CRV Problem: Engine Humming, to Dashboard Light Activations, to Engine Ignition Failure (Within One Week) Sign In

Hey everyone,

My Honda CRV was functioning normally until two days ago, when, with the engine on, I noticed a subtle, high-pitched humming/whining noise at about shoulder height while seated. Then, just yesterday, while stopped at a red light, the red battery icon suddenly lit up on my dashboard. Shortly after, when I braked at the next stoplight, additional icons (the ABS, VSA, and ā€œ!ā€) turned on. These would go away until I pumped the brakes again and then they would reappear.

This morning when I tried to start my car, it failed. When I turned the key in the ignition, the engine made a peculiar sound and the dashboard lights began to rapidly pulse. I've uploaded a video of it here: https://youtube.com/shorts/oDNj7_m86MU

I'm not entirely sure if these problems are related to the hot weather. I had the battery tested a few months ago, and it was fine.

Does anyone have any sense of what issue this issue might be?

Iā€™m asking because it will help me shop around to get price quotes ahead of actually committing to a mechanic.

Many thanks!

It's pretty obvious that the charging system stopped working and ran the battery down. The battery may or may not be able to come back from that but the first steps are to recharge the battery and then test the charging system.
