Thermostat on 98 Rodeo

I just bought a 1998 Isuzu rodeo. 3.2 V62 wheel drive. My thermostat is stuck open. Is it true that it's a 4-6 hour job because the intake has to come off?

No, it's not. The flat rate is 1.8hr. REMOVAL - Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Drain engine coolant from the radiator and engine.
- Disconnect radiator hose from the inlet pipe.
- Remove thermostat housing.
- Remove thermostat (2).

Is the thermostat under the intake?

It's partially covered at the front of the intake but the intake doesn't have to be removed to get it out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Seems like an excessive amount of work for a 7$ part, and one that is always going to need replaced, doesn't it?
