Thermostat on 98 Rodeo Sign In

I just bought a 1998 Isuzu rodeo. 3.2 V62 wheel drive.
My thermostat is stuck open. Is it true that it's a 4-6 hour job because the intake has to come off?

Re: Thermostat on 98 Rodeo Sign In

No, it's not. The flat rate is 1.8hr.

REMOVAL
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Drain engine coolant from the radiator and engine.
  3. Disconnect radiator hose from the inlet pipe.
  4. Remove thermostat housing.
  5. Remove thermostat (2).

Is the thermostat under the intake?

It's partially covered at the front of the intake but the intake doesn't have to be removed to get it out.

I don't know, maybe a 5.

Having the right tools makes a difference.

Re: Thermostat on 98 Rodeo Sign In

Seems like an excessive amount of work for a 7$ part, and one that is always going to need replaced, doesn't it?

You say that like that really matters to the engineers.

Believe me, we see much worse.
