Trunk has a leak

I drive a 2016 Toyota Camry SE, just the other day I opened the trunk to discover there was water on the driver side right beneath the pressure vent. Originally I thought maybe it was the tail light gasket. It’s actually the pressure vent and I found out after dumping some water on the bumper where it was located. Water just started to stream from the edges and from the bottom of the pressure vent. Now I’m no expert but I don’t think it’s suppose to do that. Pressure vent works as it should so would a new pressure vent with a new seal fix it or is there another way?

No clue what you mean by a pressure vent but you seem to know it's the reason.
At any rate you must fix this NOW! Spare tire and joke for a jack will be useless soon if not now.
Save it if you can take everything out, liners and all let it dry totally.
The usual reason is leaves or whatever debris and top trunk seal isn't make to hold that doesn't seem the case here?
Seek help -an auto body repair shop if necessary this has to be fixed, stopped or you'll lose a car over it!

I have been in this business more than 55 years and I have never heard of a "pressure vent".
You need to explain what you are talking about.

In the rear of the car if you pull back the carpet liner on the right or sometimes on the left or both. There is a vent with rubber flaps on it. When you shut your doors or trunk those flaps open to release pressure therefore making the door easier to close

My trunk seal on top is clear with no debris. I explained the vent I was talking about in the other reply. That’s what it’s called when I look up the part on Toyotas site

LOL, no I'm afraid not.
Those flaps in the floor are water drains. There are no automatic vents.
The trunk is vented into the back seat and is not air tight.

Same - old Phart city! :-)
Fix anything but what is it? Cars/trucks are vented, have been for decades (not pre 1968+/-) folks found dead no air wasn't some crime!
Already said, take all junk out of that trunk. The liner too if spare tire is on the bottom most of that type have plugs - pull one it full now.
Water issues are either and usually gravity the source a pest to find can be a back window? Tape it off see if it persists?
The other is driving in wet/rain both wind of motion and anything near wheels.
This is a 99% car IMO nothing left out new for design.

I spent time with it last night and nothing in the spare tire well is wet. I sprayed the cars rear end down with water and the only place I could see water coming in from the trunk was below this vent of some sort that can be pulled out from the driver quarter panel. It’s only collecting water in a little pocket. I’ve checked gaskets and checked around the window

Late thought did this for finding leaks if only a wind whistle:
It's not free stuff anymore get some painter's tape. Seal off the crevasses.
Plain hose water may not prove anything a real exposure could also hard to catch - your time and when it's live?
Find it and seek help as needed. It wasn't forgotten designing the thing can be elusive like the back window doing this!

OK, I see now what you are talking about. It's in the lower Qtr panel. The well it leads to should have a water drain at the bottom so no water should be accumulating there.

Yeah I apologize I was just trying to describe it to the best of my knowledge. There is a plug in the floor there but should water be getting into that spot to begin with?

Those things vent OUT not IN so the vent may be defective or have something caught in it.

So would it be a good idea to just replace the vent assembly entirely?water seems to be coming in from the seal above it and below it. I only know that because I poured a Gallon of water over that spot where the bumper meets the quarter panel and when I looked back in the trunk I could see water coming out around the sides of the vent

Yes, your description sounds like more of an installation problem than defective vent. You might want to have it professionally installed.

As far as I know it’s the original one that came on the car. I figured that would be held in place with more than just a seal and clips on the vent
|

Beating on this too hare IMO! Could be a bad back window I said that.
Test it tape it off already said. Worked alone fast from ages ago FYI if just Hammer and me over 100 years of dealing with almost anything.
I want you to fix my leaking ice maker in fridge driving me nuts :-)

Problem was identified. Body shop looked it over and my bumper has a small gap in it. When it rains or water goes though that gap water begins to leak from the vent edges

Problem was identified and it turns out there is a small gap between the bumper and quarter panel. He poured water in the gap and sure enough it runs out of the vent edge

FOUND! Long thread 4 what someone in the biz could just look at. Web is handy but limited and no way as good a being there.
Hope it's an easy fix I still say dry the whole trunk out if rust chips, scrape and remove them go back later + do it again rust wins, metal loses few tricks even help,
