What's the condition of the rest of the cooling system? Have you tested for electrolysis yet? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

no I have not, what is that ? I had the system flushed about 3 months ago, seems like every time I have a new pump installed it last about 4 months, I have no idea what electrolysis is but I don't believe it was ever done, the mechanic said my lower hose appears to be leaking too,so im taking it in this morning and he's going to check every thing out, thanks

Electrolysis is when the electrical system in the car has a faulty ground path for at least one circuit and the current finds it's way to ground through the cooling system, to the block, to the battery. Take a digital voltmeter and with the engine running and the usual accessories on, attach the negative lead to battery negative and dip the positive lead into the coolant in the radiator and you should not see more than a tenth or two reading.

My 2 cents- parts quality is a major issue these days, enough said on that. Is there a bearing problem OR just the seal? Are we sure its the WP - not bypass tube or the timing cover - a crack there would have us kneejerk to WP. Maybe there is something affecting the pump- excess belt tension? fAN assembly? A near by pulley excess runout?

Bad reading could cause fast corrosion and failure. IMO bypass hose should be new and out of the question. Pump is fairly common type for the layout of engine and usual failures of pumps are first bearings then leaks out a vent hole noticed. Pulley would be wobbly if so first. There's a tensioner involved that just may be way too tight causing failures early as bearing on belt driven item do NOT fare well if too tight. Just a thought of the above all credible or something is going without notice and surprised it holds right away with a new one if so? T

I did have a problem last weekend I herd a noise in the engine comp, thought it was the alt, so I put a new one in and it turns out it was the idler pulley, so I had to put that in and a new belt, but had the problem with the water pump way before that, I hope the mechanic can figure it out I told him what you guys suggested so he'll look around ,,Thanks
