Is coolant level staying full in the radiator? There may be a problem with the fan(s) coming on with this and hard to tell driving along. Fan may just stay on if you request defrost or A/C when this happens try that and if it stays steady that's a clue. Ask for full heat and feel the air temp - if it goes cold on you it's running way too hot or too low on coolant. Keep an eye on it and don't let it run too hot, T

Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest Boston - USA Thanks for your reply.I will check for Fans coming on with request of AC. I have not completely understood your this suggestion "Ask for full heat and feel the air temp - if it goes cold on you it's running way too hot or too low on coolant." Can you clerify? Once again thanks.

When coolant boils you only get air bubbles and hot as they are they don't transfer heat and that's at the point when the heat is too much to be safe for the engine. Temp sensing will be late sensing hot air bubbles and near immediate when sensing liquid. Coolant under pressure of most radiator caps if system holds pressure will not boil to bubble till about 257 degrees Fahrenheit not just the standard 212F we think of, T

Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest Boston - USA Checked as suggested by you. Problem is with Fan.It does not come up even after 15 miles of running. When AC on it comes up.After running more than 15 miles ran into problem of overheating when car running at slow speed annd in traffic.Problem is with cooling fan not starting.May be Fan Switch is faulty. Where this switch is located and can I change or do I have to take car to mechanic. Car is 1993 Acura Vigor GS/Auto Trans. Well thanks for solving my problem

You've isolated the problem - great! Now - there could be two fans in this car - are there? I have to work on principles as I don't have master software for all cars. Temp is sensed near or on thermostat housing for the engine coolant temp. From there it signals the need for the fan directly or thru the car's computer - don't know that. It would still use a relay for the power for the fan. I would start ruling things out. With glove does the fan for radiator turn by hand or if you see it turn with A/C that's enough. It's likely that it is the temp switch at the thermostat and it may activate the fan with it unplugged but not sure on that. Be careful with test lights and jumper wires as that can cause problems you don't want! Check fuses, wiring for defects and if all checks out consider replacing the sensor. Hate to toss $$ with guessing so check on what it costs as it may be cheap enough to toss it to rule that out. If not we need to keep looking and find location of the relay which could be bad and I don't have a location for it but it may be listed in the owner's manual. In the mean time don't allow this to overheat and if the A/C request makes it run at normal temps do that till this is solved. That may still give you heat thru panel vents if you request warm A/C which is kind of an oxymoron! See what you can find that looks easy enough or cheap enough but do send this out for the fix now if you can't control the overheating as that will cost a fortune in damage if left unchecked, T

Thanks for your reply.Checked with auto zone and they have 4 related parts.Coolant temp sensor which we changed but problem not solved. They also have Cooling Fan switch and Engine temp sensor.I can try one by one. There can be relay problem and for which Wiring Dia is required.I can not make out anyhing out of these diagrams.May be you can study and help.I have down loaded from database of library.I can send you by Email if you can inform me your Email. Edited: Took out your posted email as this is the open web. I can see it anyway and prefer you use the PM system.

Tom Greenleaf - MetroWest Boston - USA While running car for long distance -we have observed Radiator cooling fan does not come on and Temp goes up to 3/4th of gauge and than cooing fan start.Earlier Temp gauge was remaining constant at 1/3 rd.What could be the problem? Is Fan switch not responding at proper temp and opens only at higher temp or some relay problem?
